The house that I grew up in was built by my grandfather Farfar in 1903. The story about how he did this construction job is as follows: Farfar had a relative in another island community called Saltvik who owned forest land with better trees for house building than was available in the Norrgårds forest. So he decided to purchase the logs he would need there. To make sure he bought the right amount of logs for the new hose, not too few, and not too many, he felled and trimmed the trees and built up the entire wall structure of the house to be. That done, he took it all down, we are talking about more than a thousand logs here, and transported them to the water, lashed them into bundles and tied them to his boat, which was a 24-foot fishing/work boat, equipped with oars and sails for propulsion. (There were no motorboats in Baggholma in 1903.) So, he sailed his boat with this load of logs in tow from Saltvik to Baggholma, a distance of about 25 miles of open water. There he pulled them one by one out of the water and hauled them to the new home site. Then he proceeded to build the house.
